YU NAGABA's collaboration with Pokemon Card Game did very well.
eBay Japan has published their cross-border e-commerce trends for the third quarter of 2021 (Period: July-September 2021). They have revealed the sales trends for listings that have been sold by Japanese eBay sellers.
As expected, Japanese Pokemon Cards still growing at an rapid pace and trading cards in general ranked first place again for the fifth consecutive term. The YU NAGABA x Pokemon Card Game Pikachu 208/S-P Promo has been very popular.
We also covered the results for Q1 2020, Q1 2021 and Q2 2021, in which Shiny Star V, Eevee Heroes and Japanese Pokemon cards in general proved to be very popular outside of Japan.
In the top 10 highest transaction amounts (value), Toys/Collectable Card Games have moved from it's 3rd place to 6th place since the last quarter.
Among the top 10 transaction amounts, trading cards ranked first in the category, which was growing significantly every year, for the third consecutive term. This quarter, Trading Cards grew again at a high level of +237% growth rate, recording triple-digit growth for the fourth consecutive term. This number was +655% in Q2 2021, +833% in Q1 2021, and +491% in Q4 2020.
The popular e-commerce platform also revealed a Top 5 best selling (in sales volume) products in Q3 2021.
The YU NAGABA x Pokemon Card Game Pikachu 208/S-P Promo has been very popular and ranked first. This promo was handed out at Japanese Pokemon Centers, Pokemon Stores and the Pokemon Center Online Stores if you spent 1500 Yen or more. With this, Pokemon Card Game has become the top selling product for the fifth consecutive term.
S6a Eevee Heroes that Evolving Skies partially is based of took the first place spot in the second quarter this year. S4a Shiny Star V, which Shining Fates is based of and released in November 2020, took the first place spot in the previous quarter this year. Shiny Star V also took the first place in October-December 2020.
Since Q3 2020, with S3a Legendary Heartbeat, Pokemon Card Game products have been first place on the best selling products list ever since.

eBay Japan Category Manager Ryosuke Ichida has said that sales of Pokémon cards continued to be strong with a high rate of growth. In particular, sales of Pokémon cards continued to be strong, partly due to the 25th anniversary and partly due to the release of expansion packs at the end of July and September, mainly featuring popular international characters.
As well as new box releases, pack sales and single cards were also popular, with sales of promo cards, a collaboration between Pikachu and illustrator YU NAGABA, the most popular character on eBay, particularly strong.
eBay Japan also saw an increase in sales of high value PSA graded single cards due to the impact of a webinar they held at the end of May with PSA Japan, a trading card grading and authenticity company, and the fact that transactions of over 1 million yen are now possible. They expect that the sales of PSA-graded single cards will continue to grow in the future.

Not a big fan of PSA though, they grade like trash and their cases dont look so nice ^^
