Special Art cards will return in the Pokémon TCG!

It was mentioned a while ago on a official sell sheet that several "Special Art cards" would come, that would show off the Pokémon's uniqueness, and would have made sure to make pack openings even more exciting. But we did not know in what regard Special Arts would return at the time, so we could not fully confirm at the time if it were the Special Art cards as we know them from the past TAG TEAM GX sets during Sun & Moon.

Now it has been confirmed that Special Art cards are coming in S5 Single Strike Master / Rapid Strike Master. And the first Special Art cards that have been revealed are Single-Strike Urshifu VMAX and Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX.

These cards have the HR rarity instead of SR rarity, which is different compared to the previous generation of Special Art cards during TAG TEAM GX sets from Sun & Moon. We are curious if the Rainbow colored HR VMAX cards are replaced in its entirety for these Special Art HR cards or not. Expect (not confirmed) these Special Art cards to be included in Sword & Shield - Battle Styles too.

KIYOTAKA OSHIYAMA and Kinu Nishimura that have illustrated these cards, are artists making their debut for the Pokémon TCG. Kinu Nishimura is an artist that did many works for Capcom, she illustrated promotional and main artwork for many Capcom games including various Street Fighter games. If correct, Kiyotaka Oshiyama is an animator from Studio Durian that has animated (key animation, directed and designed) many anime shows including Flip Flappers and Space Dandy.

Lastly they have confirmed that there are other Special Art cards included in S5 Single Strike Master / Rapid Strike Master so stay stuned for more Special Arts in the future!

Which version do you like of the two? Let us know!

I hope rainbow rares stay... but also that these take up some space for the rainbow rares. I noticed that they have the glitter layer, so if rainbow rares stay, the space will be shared with the new special arts.

It would be amazing if (if they do make these cards) Latias VMAX and Latios VMAX got one of these special art cards.
