More Vanilla cards!

Pokemon Company revealed the successor to the Family Pokemon Card Game line named Battle Academy. We first knew about this product back in November 2023, we speculated that they would have global branding matching with the TPCi version of Battle Academy and it seems this could be true.

They have revealed 7 new ex cards which are included with 4 decks named Sprigatito ex (which we have seen first in the Pokémon TCG: Paldea Adventure Chest), Pikachu ex, Lucario ex & Greninja ex. Also Houndstone ex, Armarouge ex, Darkrai ex & Melmetal ex are featured in 1 of the 4 decks with new cards. A new supporter card named Picknicker also is in this product.

The Battle Academy costs 3,290 yen and will release on March 8, 2024.

Besides the Battle Academy, there is a smaller cheaper version named Anytime, Anywhere Battle Academy which only feature the Sprigatito ex and Pikachu ex decks which costs 1360 yen and also releases on the same day.

Original Story

This should be the spiritual successor of the Family Pokemon Card Game from 2021, what's more important is that it's also called Battle Academy, likely to globalize branding because the English variant of this product always has been called Battle Acedemy.

This is the first 'Battle Academy' for this Scarlet & Violet generation.

The previous iterations of the Japanese Family Pokemon Card Game set, came internationally here too as a 'board game' under the Pokémon Battle Academy. The 2020 Pokémon Battle Academy product was been awarded 'Game of the Year' at the 2021 Toy of the Year awards (by the Toy Foundation) at the time. The 2022 version of Battle Academy, did not get an award to our knowledge.
