Mitsuhiro Arita Showing Concept Artwork of Released Pokémon Cards

Famous Pokémon TCG artist Mitsuhiro Arita has shared on Twitter some of his drafts of commissions for Pokémon TCG Cards that would become real illustrations for cards.

Our good friend ToineLay spotted that Arita had drawn a draft for Celebi & Venusaur GX over the concept text of Pikachu & Zekrom GX. This would have been a worse card than what we currently have.

ToineLay translated this concept card:

Pikachu & Zekrom GX HP240

[L] Accel Bolt 30

Attach up to 2 L Energies to this Pokémon

[L][L][L] Lightning Ball 130

ToineLay: The GX Move has the same effect as the Tag Bolt GX we ended up having, but is called Electrobombers GX.

Also Arita-san has shared the drafts of Giovanni's Scheme 277/XY-P Full Art promo. This card only was included in the very limited Team Rocket Special Case box in 2017. Lastly there is a draft of Pikachu and Mew. These cards would later become unnumbered XY-P promo's, with a digital signature of Mitsuhiro Arita to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Pokemon Card Game. You could obtain these during Japanese Events during that period.

What do you think of Arita-san sharing his past works like this? Please let him know on Twitter!
